The inside pages are in overall very good condition. The brochure doesn't have the "fares" insert (which would have been inserted in the flap at the back)

Ships' History: The 25,245 ton ss Britanis was built as the Monterey for the U.S. flag Matson Lines in 1932 and was the sister ship of the Chandris liner Ellinis (which was built for Matson as the Lurline in 1932). During World War the Monterey was used as a troop ship from 1941-1946 and was laid up after the war. Matson bought the ship back from the US government in 1956 and renamed it the Matsonia. In 1963 Matson renamed the ship Lurline. Chandris bought the ship in 1970 and renamed it Britanis and it sailed with them until 1994 when it was chartered by the US government for use as a floating barracks in Guantanamo Bay. The ship was laid up in 1996. The Britanis sank off Cape Town on its way to be scrapped in 2000.

The 24,361 ton 632 ft long ss Ellinis originally operated as the Lurline for Matson Lines from 1932-1963 when it was purchased by Chandris and renamed Ellinis. The ship sailed with Chandris until 1981 when it was laid up. It was sold for scrap in 1987.

The 34,449 ton 723 foot long ss Australis was built in 1940 as the ss America for United States Lines. During World War II the ship served as the troop ship USS West Point. United States Lines sold it to Chandris in 1964 and it was renamed the Australis and given an extensive refit. The ship was laid up in 1977. In 1978 it was sold to the New York based Venture Cruise Line and renamed ss America and spent a disastrous 3 months with Venture which included an aborted cruise, a passenger mutiny, a failed health inspection (the ship received a score of 6 out of 100), and impounding for unpaid debts. Chandris repurchased the ship at auction in late 1978 and renamed it Italis and removed the forward dummy funnel. After a year of cruises, it was laid up in 1979. The ship was sold twice more but didn't sail. It was sold for scrap in the 1980's but the scrappers went out of business before it was scrapped. In 1992 it was sold for use as a hotel ship but it went aground while being towed during a storm off the Canary Islands in 1994. The shipwrecked ship broke apart and the aft section sank in 1997. The bow section remained until 2007 when it finally broke apart and sank into the sea. Parts of the wreck were still visible during low tide until about 2018.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0283/9805/9606/files/chandris-australis-britanis-ellinis.jpg?v=1780173312
https://tulipstuff.com/products/chandris-lines-australis-britanis-ellinis-1972-around-the-world-brochure
