(see photos).\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eShip History:\u003c\/strong\u003e The cruises were aboard Delta Line's four 20,000 ton 125 passenger Santa Cruiseliner class U.S. registered ships: Santa Maria, Santa Magdalena, Santa Mariana, and Santa Mercedes.  The 4 ships were built in 1964- 1965 for Grace Line which was purchased by Prudential Line in 1970, and then Delta Line bought Prudential in 1979.  The ships sailed with Delta Line until 1984 when they were laid up. The Santa Maria, Santa Magdalena, Santa Mariana were sold for scrap in 1988. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe ss Santa Mercedes was converted into a training ship for the Massachusetts Maritime Academy and renamed the USTS Patriot State. The ship served until 1999 when it was withdrawn from service.
