Air Florida 400 S&H Green Stamps Gift Certificate from 1982, 6" x 2 7/8" (152mm x 73mm).
Air Florida gave out these 400 S&H Green Stamps gift certificates as a promotion to passengers on its intra-Florida flights starting in 1982. It later expanded the promotion to some interstate flights. At the same time, the airline also began accepting books of Green Stamps as payment and giving costumers a voucher for $12 if they redeemed 4 books of stamps.
note: S&H went out of business in the late 1980's so this certificate is no longer redeemable.
Air Florida was a budget carrier that operated from 1972 to 1984 before filing for bankruptcy due to aggressive expansion following airline deregulation in 1978 and a well publicized crash in 1982. At its peak it had 29 planes and flew to 99 destinations.
S&H Green Stamps were distributed as rewards for purchases at grocery stores, department stores, and gas stations from the late 1890's to the late 1980's. Customers could redeem their stamps for purchases from the S&H catalog.
The gift certificate is in excellent condition.
