23 page 1972-73 brochure for the 1972-1973 10-day South America / West Indies Cruises from Port Everglades, Florida aboard the Holland America Cruises s.s. Nieuw Amsterdam. The brochure was printed in the Netherlands.
Ports of call included Willemstad Curacao, La Guaira Venezuela, St. George's Grenada, Basse-Terre Guadeloupe, Pointe-a-Pitre Guadeloupe, and Charlotte Amalie St. Thomas.
The brochure includes photos and descriptions of the ship and ports of call, itineraries and sailing schedules, shore excursion info, room rates, cabin plans, detailed deck plans, and general passenger information.
Condition: The brochure is in overall very good condition. A photo of the ship on page 15 was colored in by a child, and there is some light wear on the back cover (see photo).
Ocean Liner History: The 36,982 ton, 758 ft long, ss Nieuw Amsterdam was built in Rotterdam in 1937 and sailed with Holland America from its maiden voyage in 1938 until the end of 1973. The ship was used as a troop ship for 6 years during World War II. The ship was scrapped in 1974.
