Vintage 10-strike matchbook cover (no matches) from the 1950's for the Hotel Berkeley-Carteret (now called the Berkeley Oceanfront Hotel), located near the beach and boardwalk in Asbury Park New Jersey

The historic hotel opened in 1925.  Singer Johnny Cash (along with NY TV newsman Ernie Anastos, and Henry Vaccaro of Kramer Guitars) purchased the hotel in 1985 and maintained a suite in the hotel.  Cash sold his stake in the hotel in 1992.

The front cover has the hotel name, and the strike side cover  says "Asbury Park N.J."'.  The inside of the cover says "The World Famous Berkeley-Carteret - Luxurious Pool And Cabana Club - vacation and honeymoon paradise year round".

The matchbook cover is empty and there are no matches, the strike pad appears to be unused. The matchbook is in very good condition (see photos).
