Product Description
18-page full color pre-launch brochure issued December 1981 introducing Royal Caribbean Cruise Line's new 32,000 ton ship the m/s Song of America which made its maiden voyage in December 1982.
The brochure was issued the year before the ship's debut so it is full of artist rendition's of the ship's exterior and interior rather than photos. The brochure takes you on a preview tour of the ship and its public rooms (Compass Deck, Sun Deck, Viking Crown Lounge, Oklahoma Lounge, Can-Can Lounge, Madame Butterfly Dining Room, and more).
The brochure also has deck plans, 7-day cruise itineraries and sailing schedules (December 1982-March 1983), room rates, dining room schedule (breakfast, lunch, and dinner, main and second seatings), vital statistics about the ship, and general cruise information.
The brochure has a 3.5" split along the spine and the top staple is loose, but the pages are otherwise in very good condition without any creases.
The ship sailed with Royal Caribbean from December 1982 until 1999 when it was sold to Airtours and renamed Sunbird. In 2004 it was sold to Louis Cruise Lines. It was named the Thomson Destiny from 2005-2012, the Louis Olympia from 2012-2014, the Celestyal Olympia from 2014-2023 when it was laid up.
