Aquaman (3rd series), issue number #2, published in September 1994 by DC Comics. Story by Peter David, pencils by Marty Egeland, inks by Brad Vancata
Synopsis: In “Single Wet Female,” Aquaman finds himself held captive by the ruthless terrorist Charybdis, who has discovered a way to drain Aquaman and his companion, the aquatic heroine Dolphin, of their powers and transfer them to himself. Charybdis plans to use his newfound abilities as part of a scheme to poison the Earth by triggering the destruction of sunken nuclear submarines. Meanwhile, Aqualad struggles to recover from his injuries as Aquaman and Dolphin face their captor’s increasingly dangerous experiments.
As Charybdis’s plan spirals out of control, Aquaman and Dolphin attempt to escape, leading to a desperate confrontation that carries the battle from Charybdis’s underwater stronghold onto land. Aqualad plays a crucial role in their escape, but the encounter ends in a devastating personal loss for Aquaman when Charybdis destroys his hand. Dolphin shoots the villain, sending him into a river filled with piranhas. Written by Peter David, with artwork by Martin Egeland and Brad Vancata, this pivotal issue marks a major turning point in Aquaman’s life and sets the stage for his transformation in the issues that follow.
Condition: The comic is in very fine to near mint condition with no noticeable problems (see photos).
