In 1988 the ship was sold for use as a casino ship and renamed Pride of Mississippi (and renamed Pride of Galveston in 1991) and sailed in the Gulf of Mexico on short cruises. In 1991 the ship was permanently berthed in Biloxi and renamed the Copa Casino. The ship was sold for scrap in 2003 and sank on its way to the breakers.
