6 page brochure for the 1978 Summer cruises from Montreal aboard Black Sea Shipping Company's Soviet flag Russian ship M/S Kazakhstan.

The ship sailed on 12 summer cruises from Montreal: 10 6-day/7-day cruises with ports of call in Quebec City, Saguenay, St. Pierre & Miquelon, Charlottetown, and Gaspe. A 14 day cruise added Bermuda as a port of call in addition to the regula Canadian ports. 

At the beginning of June the ship also offered a special 9-day cruise from New York to Montreal with port stops in Boston, Sydney, Charlottetown, Gaspe, Bagotville, and Quebec City.

In September the Kazakhstan sailed on a special 17-day Special Transatlantic Cruise from Montreal with port stops in Ponta Delgada, Lisbon, Marseilles, Naples, Piraeus, and Odessa.

The brochure includes a description and large photo of the Kazakhstan, basic deck plans, sailing schedules and itineraries, room rates, descriptions of ports of call, and general passenger information.

Condition: The brochure is in very good condition with some minor yellowing from age around the edges of the covers (see photos).

Trivia: Black Sea Shipping's ships were banned from visiting US ports in 1982 after President Reagan placed sanctions on Soviet shipping.

Ship History: The Kazakhstan sailed under the USSR Soviet flag until 1992 and then changed to the Ukrainian flag after the USSR broke up.

The mv Kazakhstan entered service in 1976 and sailed with Black Sea until 1994. The ship was one of 5 Belorussiya/Gruziya class ships built in 1975-76 (its sister ships were the Azerbaijan, Belorussiya, Gruziya, and Kareliya).  The ship sailed with Royal Seas Cruise as the 'Royal Seas' in '95-96' and then was chartered by Sea Escape and sailed as the party ship 'Island Adventure'. until 2008. The ship was scrapped in 2012.
