Product Description

4 page large size (11"x8.75") introductory brochure for the winter 1976-77 cruises to Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean aboard Black Sea Shipping Company's Soviet flag Russian ships M/S Kazakhstan and M/V Odessa.

The brochure includes a photo of the Odessa and an artist's rendition of the Kazakhstan (which was still under construction when the brochure was printed) , a brief description of each ship, basic cruise info (ports of call, departure dates, starting rates)

The brochure is in excellent condition (see photos).

Trivia: Black Sea Shipping's ships were banned from visiting US ports in 1982 after President Reagan placed sanctions on Soviet shipping.

The two ships sailed under the USSR Soviet flag until 1992 and then changed to the Ukrainian flag after the USSR broke up.

The mv Odessa was built in 1974 and sailed with Black Sea Shipping in 1995 when it was laid up.  The ship resumed service in 2001 and then was sent to the breakers in 2007.

The mv Kazakhstan entered service in 1976 and sailed with Black Sea until 1994. The ship was one of 5 Belorussiya/Gruziya class ships built in 1975-76 (its sister ships were the Azerbaijan, Belorussiya, Gruziya, and Kareliya).  The ship sailed with Royal Seas Cruise as the 'Royal Seas' in '95-96' and then was chartered by Sea Escape and sailed as the party ship 'Island Adventure'. until 2008. The ship was scrapped in 2012.
