14 page large size (11"x8.75") brochure for the 1979-1980 Caribbean 'a la Russe' cruises from New Orleans and Tampa aboard Black Sea Shipping Company's Soviet ships M/S Kazakhstan and M/V Odessa.
The brochure includes photos and descriptions of the ships and shipboard activities, photos and descriptions of ports of call, sailing schedules, room rates, deck plans for both ships, general info, and fly cruise packages.
The brochure is in good condition with light wear on the covers, a crease on the front cover, and a few small spots on the back cover (see photos).
Trivia: Black Sea Shipping's ships were banned from visiting US ports in 1982 after President Reagan placed sanctions on Soviet shipping.
The two ships sailed under the USSR Soviet flag until 1992 and then changed to the Ukrainian flag after the USSR broke up.
The mv Odessa was built in 1974 and sailed with Black Sea Shipping in 1995 when it was laid up. The ship resumed service in 2001 and then was sent to the breakers in 2007.
The mv Kazakhstan entered service in 1976 and sailed with Black Sea until 1994. The ship was one of 5 Belorussiya/Gruziya class ships built in 1975-76 (its sister ships were the Azerbaijan, Belorussiya, Gruziya, and Kareliya). The ship sailed with Royal Seas Cruise as the 'Royal Seas' in '95-96' and then was chartered by Sea Escape and sailed as the party ship 'Island Adventure'. until 2008. The ship was scrapped in 2012.
