Product Description
Fold out full color brochure for the December 1977 to March 1978 7-day winter cruises aboard the Carras Cruises Greek cruise ship mts Danae. Sailing Dates 12/30/1977, 1/6-13-20-27/1978, 2/3/1978, and 3/17/1978.
The cruises departed from New Orleans and visited Cozumel, Grand Cayman, and Havana. The port calls in Havana during '77-'78 by the Danae and her sister ship Daphne generated controversy and protests because they were the first ships carrying American passengers to visit Havana since the Revolution in 1958.
The brochure includes photos of the ship and shipboard activities, a description of the ship and the cruise, very basic deck plans for 5 of the decks (no deck plans for Deck 2 or Restaurant Deck 4), stateroom layout plans and photos of the different stateroom types, room rates, and general info.
The brochure is in very good condition with a small light stain on the bottom right side of the front cover (see photos).
The 16,500 ton mts Danae was originally built as the cargo ship Port Melbourne for Port Lines in 1954 and was purchased by Carras in 1972 and rebuilt and converted into a passenger ship and made its debut as the Danae in 1977. The ship was operated by Costa Cruises from 1979-1990. The ship sailed as the Princess Danae for Classics International Cruises from 1996-2013 and was scrapped around 2014.
