David and Goliath, written by Barbara Shook Hazen and illustrated by Robert J. Lee. A Little Golden Book, published by Golden Press, New York and produced by Western Publishing Co. Copyright 1974, printed in 1993/94. Printed in the USA. Hardcover book, 24 pages.
Synopsis: David and Goliath, written by Barbara Shook Hazen, retells the familiar Biblical story of the young shepherd David and the giant Philistine warrior Goliath. When Goliath challenges the Israelites to send out a champion to fight him, the soldiers are frightened by his enormous size and strength. David, however, believes that with courage and faith he can face the giant. Armed with only his shepherd's sling and five smooth stones, David volunteers to confront Goliath.
Despite being much smaller and less experienced than the heavily armed warrior, David refuses to be intimidated. He uses his sling to strike Goliath in the forehead with a stone, bringing the giant down and defeating him. The story emphasizes courage, faith, and determination, showing how David's confidence and resourcefulness allow him to overcome an opponent who appears overwhelmingly powerful.
Condition: The book is in very good condition. The front cover has some rubbing to the graphics on the top and left edges, and there is a name written in the "this book belongs to" section on the inside of the cover. The inner pages are in excellent condition with no writing or creases, and the binding is very good (see photos).
