Special theme cruises included steamboat voyages to the 1984 World's Fair in New Orleans (the Louisiana World Exposition which was held May 12-November 11 1984), Old Fashioned Holiday cruises (Thanksgiving, Christmas), Mardi Gras, Cruises, Fall Foliage Cruises, and The Great Steamboat Race Of '84.
The brochure includes photos and descriptions of both ships interiors and exteriors and onboard activities, descriptions and photos of the cruise and ports of call, sailing schedules and itineraries, room rates, deck plans for both ships, cabin plans and descriptions for both ships, fly cruise and port city stayovers, and general information.
The 1,650 ton Delta Queen was built in 1927 and in 1989 was designated a National Historic Landmark. The ship sailed until 2008. The ship is currently being refurbished in Louisiana and the new owners plan to resume cruises on the ship. The Delta Queen is the sister ship of the Delta King (also built in 1927) which is now a floating hotel and restaurant in Sacramento California.
The 3,700 ton 382 foot Mississippi Queen sailed from 1976 to 2008. It was scrapped in 2011.
