Product description

1980's Continental sized (6"x4") chrome postcard showing DiMillo's Floating Restaurant & Marina on the waterfront in the harbor of Portland, Maine.

The restaurant is on the converted car ferry "New York" which was built in 1941 for the Delaware New Jersey Ferry Co. on the New Castle DE to Pennsville NJ run.  It was later sold to the State of Virginia and ran between Norfolk Va and Hampton Va.  From 1958 to 1969 it was named the Newport II and sailed between Jamestown RI and Newport RI and was owned by the State of Rhode Island.

After its life as a ferry, it briefly served as a floating art colony in Pawtucket and then as a clubhouse for a yacht club on Long Island.  It was brought to Portland and converted into a restaurant in 1980.

A 'Plastichrome' postcard published in the USA in Boston.

The postcard is unused and in excellent condition.
