Discovering Science 6, written by Albert Piltz (Elementary Science Specialist at U.S. Office of Education) and Roger A. Van Bever (Supervisor of Elementary Science, Detroit Michigan). 6th grade textbook.

Published in 1970 by Charles E. Merrill Publishing Co. (a Bell & Howell Company), Columbus, Ohio. The book was printed in the U.S.A. Hardcover, 393 pages, 9.25" x 7.5" (235mm x 191mm) .

Condition: The book is in overall very good condition.  There is a small ink stain on the bottom corner of several pages at the beginning of the book (from the title page to page 1, see photos), and there is minor wear on the corner tips of the hard covers.  The spine and binding are very good, and there is no writing in the book or creased pages.

Synopsis: During the 1960s and 1970s, Piltz was a notable figure in science curriculum development, advocating for methods that encouraged students to actively participate in the scientific process. This was a departure from rote memorization of facts and moved towards observation, experimentation, and critical thinking. "Discovering Science 6" covers a broad range of physical, life, and earth sciences typical for 6th-graders. The course material is structured around hands-on activities, experiments, and investigations designed to foster a sense of discovery in young learners.
