Product Description

And To Think That I Saw It On Mulberry Street, by Dr. Seuss. This book was the first book written by Theodor Seuss Geisel under the "Dr Seuss" name in 1937.  Copyright renewed 1964 by Beginner Books, a division of Random House, New York.   Published and printed in the U.S.A in 1964. Hardcover book, Book Club Edition , 32 printed pages.

The Dr Seuss estate's decision to stop publishing this book in 2021 due to some of the illustrations in the book caused a controversy.

Synopsis: And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street by Dr. Seuss (first published in 1937) is a whimsical picture book that follows a young boy named Marco as he walks home from school along Mulberry Street. His father has asked him to keep his eyes open and report anything interesting he sees—but all Marco notices is a plain horse pulling a wagon. Unwilling to return home with such a dull story, Marco lets his imagination run wild.

As he walks, Marco transforms the ordinary scene in his mind: the horse becomes a zebra, then an elephant, and eventually the wagon becomes a parade with trumpeters, police escorts, and exotic characters. Each turn of the page adds more fantastical elements to Marco's tale, building to a chaotic, magical spectacle.

By the end of the story, Marco decides to simply tell his father the truth—that all he really saw was a horse and a wagon. The book celebrates imagination and storytelling, while gently satirizing how reality often pales in comparison to what the mind can dream up.

Condition: The book is in very good plus condition.  It has some fingerprint smudges on the cover's spine covering but is otherwise in excellent condition (see photos).
