Product Description

Four-panel two-sided brochure from the early 1950's for the landmark 350 room luxury resort El Panama Hotel in Panama City which at the time was owned by Kirkeby Hotels.

The hotel, noted for its cantilevered balconies, was built in 1946 and designed by American architect Edward Durell Stone who also designed the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington DC, and the Museum of Modern Art and General Motors Building in New York.

The brochure has photos and descriptions of the hotel and its amenities (including the exterior, the pool, restaurant, private terrace in rooms, and more), as well as several photos of Panama attractions and daily life (including Panama Canal, duty free shops, Darien Indian banana farmer, Spanish architecture,San Jose Convent, Carnival) .

The brochure is in very good condition with a tiny 1/4" dogear crease on the front cover's top right corner tip (see photos).

Trivia: Arnold Kirkeby, the founder of Kirkeby Hotels, was the owner of the Chartwell Mansion in Bel Air where the Beverly Hillbillies 1960's TV sitcom's exterior scenes were filmed.
