Product description

Early 1940's linen postcard showing a pair of elephants in the Elephant House at the Zoological Park in Detroit Michigan.

From the back: "Here come the elephants, Paulina, the big one, and Aneta, the smaller. Every afternoon Paulina will take you for a ride on her back."

Made by Tichnor Brothers Boston, and published by Chaffee & Co. Inc of Detroit Michigan.

The postcard is unused but it has writing in pencil on the front on the elephants (see photos)

Historical note: the Detroit Zoo opened to the public in 1928.  The two elephants, Aneta and Pauline, were brought to the zoo in 1928 from the Hagenback Circus in Hamburg Germany.  Aneta passed away in 1943, and Paulina passed away in 1950.
