Erie Railroad Suburban Time Tables, effective 2:00 AM April 24 1938, for the passenger train service from New York City / Jersey City on the Main Line and Newark Branch (Bergen County RR).

The brochure includes Weekday and Sunday schedules for the 2 suburban New York service routes. 

  • Main Line: New York W 23rd St (ferry terminal) - Jersey City Erie RR Depot - Suffern (Rockland County NY)
  • Newark Branch: NY W 23rd St (ferry terminal) - Jersey City Erie RR Depot -Waldwick (Bergen Co. New Jersey)

The timetable also includes general information, info on the type of tickets available (one way, round trip, family tickets, and monthly tickets), and a small text advertisement for The Gateway Restaurant in the Jersey City Erie RR Terminal which featured breakfast combos from 15 cents to 65 cents, and Lunch/Dinner from 50 cents to 75 cents.

The schedule was printed by Cuneo Press, Chicago IL.  It measures 7.25" x 3.75" folded, and 7.25" x 22.5" unfolded.

The schedule is in very good condition (see photos).

History: the Erie Railroad terminal complex on W 23rd St in New York also included a ferry terminal, and in addition to the Erie RR terminal,  it also had terminals for the DL&W and Jersey Central railroads.  The terminal complex closed in 1946 when ferry service ended. The location is now the site of the Chelsea Piers.
