The book contains information on the museum's history and exhibits which cover anthropology, botany, geology,  natural history, and zoology. It includes maps/diagrams of the museum's floors and exhibits and general museum info, as well as descriptions of the 36 different themed halls and their exhibits.

The museum was founded in 1893 by Marshall Fielder (the founder of the department store chain of the same name) and is located at Roosevelt Rd and Lake Shore Drive in Chicago.
