Product Description

Early very detailed large Tourist Class deck plans brochure for the French Line flagship ss France. The 16 page full color brochure was issued in 1961 before the ss France entered service in February 1962.  The deck plans fold out to a size of 39" x 8.5" (991mm x 216mm). The brochure was printed in France in October 1961, and is written in both English and French.

The brochure has detailed deck plans for the following Tourist Class areas/decks: Observation deck, Verandah Deck, Promenade Deck, Upper Deck, Main Deck, A Deck, B Deck, and D Deck.

The brochure has artist illustrations (and a few photos), and short descriptions of the: Tourist Class Swimming Pool, The Theatre, Tourist Class Dining Room, Tourist Class Smoking Room, Shower Bath (photo), Inside Stateroom Single or Double (photo), Wardrobe Closet (photo), Outside Stateroom for 2 or 3 people (photo).

The brochure also has a short description of Tourist Class on the France and some basic facts.

The brochure is in overall very good condition.  It has three small pieces of clear tape on the front cover from where it was attached to a scrap book, and some writing on the back cover near the travel agent's stamp (see photos).

The France was built in 1962 and sailed with French Line as the S/S France from 1962-1974.  NCL bought the ship in 1979 and refurbished it and renamed it ss Norway and it sailed with them until 1999 when it was damaged by a fire in the engine room. The ship was sold for scrap in 2003.
