Vintage promotional info booklet from 1981, "Great Lakes Shipping",  published by the Lake Carriers' Association which is a trade group that represents companies that operated approximately 300 cargo ships, bulk carriers, freighters, and oil tankers on the Great Lakes in the early 1980's. Printed in 1981 in the USA. Paperback booklet, 16 pages, 10" x 7" (254mm x 178mm). 

The booklet has many photos of Great Lakes freighters, cargo ships, and tankers, and explains the role the ships play in carrying goods and commodities.  The book gives info on the Great Lakes shipping fleet, shore facilities and docks, and it also has a table showing the bulk commodity tonnages transported yearly from 1970 to 1980.

The Lake Carriers' Association in 1981 represented 15 companies that operated freighters on the Great Lakes:
