As they explore, Benjy becomes increasingly tired and begins to yawn frequently, saying "Ho-Hum." His yawns are so contagious that the zoo animals start falling asleep one by one. The narrative reaches a climax when they encounter a hippopotamus, whose enormous yawn surpasses all others.
The book's covers have some wear along the spine and on the corner tips (see photos). The inside pages are in very good condition.
