The shore excursion programs were operated by American Express. The brochure describes in detail the available programs in each port of call: St Thomas Virgin Islands, Bridgetown Barbados, Port of Spain Trinidad, St Georges Grenada, Willemstadt Curacao, La Guaira / Caracas Venezuela, Cristobal Canal Zone, San Juan Puerto Rico, and Havana Cuba.
The brochure is in very good condition (see photos).
The 36,982 ton, 758 ft long, ss Nieuw Amsterdam was built in Rotterdam in 1937 and sailed with Holland America from its maiden voyage in 1938 until the end of 1973. The ship was used as a troop ship for 6 years during World War II. The ship was scrapped in 1974.
