Vintage early 1960's set of 5 beer coasters from the iconic New York brewery Jacob Ruppert Brewey advertising Ruppert Knickerbocker beer.  The coaster's have the Knickerbocker beer logo, list the location of the company's two breweries, and say "One of the World's Great Beers".

The pressed cardboard coasters are 3 1/2" (89mm) in diameter and were made in the U.S.A. in 1961.

Jacob Ruppert Brewery operated breweries in the Yorkville neighborhood of Manhattan, and in Orange New Jersey.  It's two main beer brands were Knickerbocker and Ruppert's Pale Ale.  The Manhattan based brewery closed in 1965 and the Knickerbocker brand and formula were sold to Reingold Brewery which produced it until the 1970's..

The brewery's owner, Colonel Jacob Ruppert, is most famous for purchasing the New York Yankees major league baseball team in 1915, and building a baseball dynasty during his 24 years of ownership.  The brewery's two beers were sold at Yankees games.  Jacob Ruppert is a member of the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. Ruppert was also a 4-term member of the US House of Representatives, representing NY's 15th Congressional District (first two terms 1899-1903) and 16th Congressional District (1903-1907)
