JTF-7 was the U.S. joint task force (Army - Navy - Air Force - Atomic Energy Commission) in charge of the Pacific atomic weapons testing program. It conducted or supported the major nuclear weapons tests at Eniwetok and Bikini Atolls, including Operation Castle. JTF-7 was established as a permanent joint task force for overseas atomic testing in 1953.
Synopsis: Original U.S. military reference booklet issued by Headquarters, Joint Task Force Seven (JTF-7), featuring a cover with the Army, Navy, Air Force and Atomic Energy Commission emblem. Intended for personnel without specialized communications training, the booklet covers communications security, message writing, Pacific atoll and island identifiers, radio navigation aids, transmission of classified information, radio telephone procedures, military abbreviations and frequently used telephone numbers. Includes a communications-security memorandum from Major General P. W. Clarkson, U.S. Army, Commander of JTF-7.
An interesting piece of Cold War and U.S. nuclear-testing history associated with the joint task force in charge of for Pacific atomic weapons testing, including Operation Castle in 1954. Undated; estimated circa 1953–1954. Marked UNCLASSIFIED.
