Vintage 10-strike matchbook cover (no matches) from the early 1960's advertising Kapnison's Court Cafe restaurant on N 4th St in downtown Albuquerque New Mexico.
Court Cafe was opened in the 1930's and it was purchased in 1959 by restaurateur Nick Kapnison who over the years owned 26 restaurants in the Albuquerque area.
The front cover of the matchbook has the the restaurant logo and name. The strike side has an illustration of a chicken holding a golf club and says "Chicken In The Rough". The inside of the matchbook says: "The Largest and Finest Downtown Restaurant" and "Breakfast Served 24 Hours - Fast Service - Food To Go."
The matchbook cover is in very good condition. It is empty and there are no matches, and the strike pad appears to be unused. (see photos).
