Synopsis: Kelly Green #1: The Go-Between (1982), written by Leonard Starr and illustrated by Stan Drake, introduces Kelly Green, the widow of New York police officer Dan Green, who is killed during a drug raid under suspicious circumstances. Convinced that Dan may have been betrayed by someone within the police department, Kelly is drawn into the criminal underworld with the help of three reformed ex-convicts whom Dan once helped turn their lives around. They find her work as a professional “go-between”—an intermediary who delivers ransom or blackmail payments and retrieves incriminating material for clients who don't want police involvement.

Kelly's first assignment takes her from New York to Florida to deliver $50,000 to a blackmailer in exchange for compromising photographs involving a wealthy family. When the intended recipient of the evidence is murdered, Kelly realizes that her seemingly straightforward assignment may be connected to her husband's death. By carefully piecing together clues—including the distinctive watch of one of Dan's superior officers—Kelly ultimately uncovers the identity of the person responsible for betraying her husband. The story combines hard-boiled crime, mystery, adult themes, and Stan Drake's polished, atmospheric artwork in an oversized 52-page graphic novel.
