Product Description
Vintage 2-panel 2-sided paper takeout menu from the mid 2000's for the East Village restaurant Life Cafe which was located at 343 E 10t Street on the corner of Avenue B in the Alphabet City section of Manhattan, New York City
Life Cafe opened in 1981 and closed in September 2011. The neighborhood around the restaurant completely changed during its existence, going from a poor crime ridden area to an area with luxury apartments and hyper-gentrification. The neighborhood was popular with locals and it was always packed for weekend brunch. The cafe is also associated with the musical "Rent" because its playwright Jonathan Larson wrote most of the play while sitting and observing at the restaurant.
The menu featured a mix of vegetarian and vegan dishes, salads, sandwiches, and an assortment of entrees that included fried chicken, fish and chips, meatloaf, and burritos.
The menu is in very good condition. The menu is 8.5" x 7" folded (and approximately 8.5" x 14" when opened).
