Vintage early 1950's hard plastic wind-up mechanical rabbit toy made by Marx Toys in the U.S.A. The rabbit measures 8" long x 5" high x 3" wide (203mm x 127mm x 76mm).  This rabbit was originally available in the Marx Rabbit Hunt Hunter and Target Set.

Instructions to wind the rabbit and send it speeding across the floor: 1. put the lever on the bottom in the up position 2. turn the key on the side 3. put it down on the floor and it will move (it has "front wheel drive").

The rabbit's wind-up mechanism is in excellent working condition, and even at its advanced age the rabbit is still able to "speed" across the floor.  We just gave it a "tune-up" with WD-40 oil (and we recommend adding a few drops of WD-40 every few years to keep the gears running smoothly).

The rabbit's body is in very good condition.  It has a few scuff marks on the plastic, and there is some surface rust on the bottom metal plate (see photos).
