Vintage 10-strike matchbook cover (no matches) from the 1950's advertising the Milwaukee Devon Service Station which was located at 6367 Milwaukee Avenue at the corner of Devon Ave in Chicago, Illinois (a 7-Eleven and Exxon station now occupy this property).
The front side of the matchbook has the old style phone number and a tire graphic with the words "new and used retread $2.00 and up". The strike side cover of the matchbook has the service station's name and address and says "Standard Service". The inside of the matchbook says "One Stop Service, Tires, Lubrication, Batteries, Accessories" and has the address and a graphic of a gas station attendant dressed in his early 1950's uniform.
The matchbook is a "Ten-Strike" matchbook made by Universal Match Corp of St. Louis / New York and the 10-strike logo is on the inside.
The matchbook cover is in very good condition with a small round hole where the staple was removed. (see photos). The matchbook is empty and there are no matches, and the strike pad appears to be unused.
