Product Description

Fold-out schedules from the early/mid 1980's for the hospital ship M/V Anastasis which was the first of the "Mercy Ships" owned and operated by the Christian ministry medical organization "Youth With A Mission"  (In 2003 Mercy Ships became a standalone organization)

The ship entered service as a hospital ship in 1982 and had an onboard hospital and medical staff that provided surgical care and palliative care, community health services and mental health services to the needy in Africa, Central America and the Caribbean, and the South Pacific during its 25 year career as a hospital ship.

The brochure includes photos of the ship and its history with Mercy Ships/YWAM as well as technical stats about the ship.  The brochure also describes the work done by YWAM/Mercy Ships, and has statements from the founder of YWAM / Mercy Ships Don Stephens.

The brochure is in very good condition.  (see photos).

The 522 ft 11,695 ton M/V Anastasis was built in 1953 as the passenger cargo liner MS Victoria (its sister ship was the MS Asia) for Italy's Lloyd Triestino shipping line for their Italy to Australia service.  The ship was sold to Adriatica Line for full time use as a cruise ship in 1974.  YWAM / Mercy Ships purchased the ship for $1 million (its scrap value) in 1978 and spent 4 years transforming to the ship into a hospital ship and renamed it the M/V Anastasis.  The ship sailed with Mercy Ships until 2007 when it was retired and scrapped.
