Synopsis: The 1960 revised edition of The Bungalow Mystery begins with Nancy Drew and her friend Helen Corning on vacation at Twin Lakes. A sudden, dangerous storm causes their motorboat to sink, and they are rescued by a teenage girl named Laura Pendleton. Laura is on her way to meet her new guardians, Mr. and Mrs. Aborn, following the recent death of her mother.

Nancy and Helen are immediately suspicious of the Aborns' intentions, finding them to be rude and untrustworthy. When Laura later escapes from her guardians, she seeks refuge at Nancy's home in River Heights. She reveals that the Aborns are not who they seem and are attempting to steal her inheritance, including a valuable collection of jewelry.

Simultaneously, Nancy's father, Carson Drew, is working on a high-profile case involving bank embezzlement. Nancy decides to help Laura and soon realizes that the two cases are connected. Her investigation leads her to a dilapidated bungalow in the woods where she uncovers a shocking surprise in the cellar: the real Jacob Aborn, who has been kidnapped and held captive by the impostors.

Through her bravery and cunning, Nancy exposes the impostors—a couple who were also the bank embezzlers her father was seeking. The mystery is solved, Laura's fortune is recovered, and she is reunited with her true and caring guardian.

Condition: The book has a gift message ("Xmas 81") written on the inside of the front cover but is otherwise in excellent condition with no bent pages or marks on the inside pages.  The spine and binding are tight and also in excellent condition (see photos)
