Vintage 10-strike matchbook cover (no matches) from the 1970's advertising the now closed Neptune's Oyster Bar - Restaurant which was located in Brightleaf Square in Durham, North Carolina.
The restaurant in Brightleaf opened in the early 1970's and closed sometime in the 1980's. Its owners also owned another Neptune's in Raleigh.
The front cover of the matchbook has the restaurant name and logo. The strike side says "Neptune's Oyster Bar - Restaurant, Brightleaf Square" and lists the phone number
The inside of the matchbook lists the restaurant's specialties which included an oyster bar (of course), catfish stew, frog legs, steaks, and other fresh seafood dishes.
The matchbook is a "Uniglo" matchbook made by Universal Match Corp. Universal made Uniglo matchbooks from 1972 to the mid 1980's.
The matchbook cover is in very good condition. It is empty and there are no matches, and the strike pad appears to be unused. (see photos).
