Product Description

Large size (12"x9") 12 page brochure for the 1974 Caribbean cruises and Italian Riviera sailings aboard the Italian Line ships ss Michelangelo, ss Raffaello, and ss Leonardo Da Vinci.

The brochure includes a photo of the Raffaello/Michelangelo on the front cover, a photo of the Leonardo Da Vinci, cruise itineraries (from New York for the sister ships Raffaello and Michelangelo, and from Port Everglades for the Leonardo Da Vinci), room rates, Italian Riviera sailing schedules for all 3 ships, a short description of the cruises, cruising hints, and general information (no deck plans).

The brochure has some light wear on the covers.  There are 1"-2" splits at the top and bottom of the spine's covers, a small 1/4" tear on the lower right edge of the front cover, and light wear along the top edge of the front cover (see photos).

The 45,900 ton sister ships Raffaello and Michelangelo were built in 1965 and taken out of service in 1975 when the Italian government ended subsidies.

The Raffaello was sold to Iran in 1976 and served as a floating barracks in Bushehr until 1983 when it was hit by a missile during the Iran-Iraq war and partially sunk.

The Michelangelo was sold to Iran in 1977 and served as a floating barracks in Bandar Abbas until it was scrapped in 1991.

The 33,300 ton Leonardo Da Vinci was built in 1960 and sailed until 1978 when it was laid up.  The ship caught fire and capsized in 1980 and was scrapped 2 years later.
