The timetable includes Rock Island Lines system train schedules, a route map, an index of stations, train and bus connection info and schedules, rail sleeping car and parlor car charges, general passenger information, and a list of traffic representatives and offices.
The timetable also has a list of the equipment (chair cars, club lounge cars, Pullman cars, dining cars, parlor lounge cars, and sleeping cars) used on the major routes and trains including: Chicago-Rock Island, Des Moines Rocket, Rocky Mountain Rocket, Peoria Rocket, Twin Star Rocket, Golden State, and other routes.
The front cover of the brochure has an illustration of a Rock Island Rocket passenger train, and the back cover has an illustration of a Rock Island Freight train.
Rock Island operated from 1852 to 1980 when it filed for bankruptcy and sold off its remaining assets. Rock Island elected not to join Amtrak in 1970 and continued to provide passenger service until 1978. It operated its extensive Chicago based commuter railroad until 1980 when Illinois's (Chicago) Regional Transportation Authority purchased the suburban routes and equipment.
The schedule is in very good condition with some light yellowing of the pages due to age). The folded size is 9" x 4" (229mm x 102mm).
