Product Description
Vintage 2-panel 2-sided paper takeout menu from the 1990's for Rodriguez Restaurant which served Spanish and American food, and was located at 103 Essex St. on the Lower East Side of Manhattan between Delancey and Rivington. The menu is written in both Spanish and English.
The restaurant's neighborhood in the 90's hadn't been gentrified yet and the area between Delancey and Houston was still an improverished neighborhood where the majority of store signs were either written in Spanish or had Spanish names, and vacant boarded up buildings dotted every street. Rodriguez Restaurant was a bright spot amid the urban decay with its great tasting home cooked Spanish food, and very affordable lunchtime specials (including a great tasting Cubano sandwich), and a clientele made up mainly of locals.
The restaurant closed around the end of the 90's/early 00's. It is now the location of a trendy upscale Szechuan restaurant, and from 2007-2012 the building housed an upscale French restaurant which morphed into a bar/party space that generated a lot of noise complaints.
The menu is in very good condition with a light crease on the top right corner. It measures 8.5" x 7" (folded).
