Ship History: The small 287 ft. 3,200 ton ship was built in 1974 and sailed as the World Discoverer from 1975 to 2000 when it was wrecked after hitting a reef in the Solomon Islands. The captain saved all passengers by grounding the listing ship in Roderick Bay but the ship was a total loss. The ship is still grounded in the bay at a 40 degree angle and is rusting and overgrown with plants and foliage. The wreck is popular with sightseers and divers.
