Product Description

Early 1950's 2-panel 2-sided brochure for the sightseeing boat M.S. Lockview and its 3X daily two hour Soo Locks cruises from the Government Dock in Sault Ste Marie, Michigan.

The brochure has a short history and description of the Lockview, facts about the St. Mary's River and Soo Locks (Canadian Lock, MacArthur Lock, Poe Lock, Davis and Sabin Locks), and interesting facts about the city of Sault Ste Marie.  The brochure also has a description of the two hour Soo Locks cruise, departure times, and a photo of the M.S. Lockview.

The brochure has a tape mark on the back from where it was affixed to a scrapbook and it has a few creases and wrinkles (see photos).

The motorship Lockview was a converted United States Army World War 2 L.S.T. ship that was used to carry troops to shore during amphibious operations.  LST ships had opening bows and could unload troops, cargo, and vehicles directly on beaches without needing docks or piers.
