Vintage 30-strike matchbook cover (no matches) from the mid 1960's advertising the now defunct Southern California shoe store chain Standard Shoe Stores.
Standard Shoe opened its first store in Inglewood in 1948 and at its peak had 12 stores in the LA area. It was noted for its colorfully designed stores. The chain was acquired by Shoe Pavilion in 1997.
The front and back sides have the Standard Shoes logo. The inside of the matchbook lists the addresses and old style phone numbers of the chain's stores in Inglewood, Encino, Los Angeles, Long Beach, Anaheim, and Pasadena.
The matchbook is a "The Aristocrat" matchbook made by Universal Match Co. of St. Louis.
The matchbook cover is in very good condition. (see photos). It is empty and there are no matches and the strike pad appears to be unused.
