Product Description

16 page brochure for the 27-day May 1937 Coronation Cruise of the Swedish American Line ocean liner Kungsholm to England, Holland, Sweden, France to celebrate the coronation of  the British King George VI.

The cruise departed from New York on May 1st and stopped in London from May 10th-13th for the Coronation.  The ship docked in the Thames and passengers were given special tickets to attend the Coronation.  The ship's next ports of call were Rotterdam, Gothenburg, Cherbourg, and returning to New York on May 28th.

The brochure includes black and white photos and descriptions of the ports of call, an artist's drawing of the ship and photos of two public rooms on the ship as well as a description of life on the ship, a description of the Coronation events and a map showing the routes of the Coronation procession, the cruise itinerary, a photo of King George VI, and 2 pages of general information for passengers.

Condition: Page 2/3 of the brochure have separated from the binding and are loose (see photos).  The cardboard front and back covers show wear with some creasing on the corners and yellowing due to age (see photos)

The Kungsholm sailed with Swedish America from 1928-1942.  After World War II it was sold to Home Lines and sailed with them as the Italia from 1947-1964.
