Synopsis: In issue #160 of The Brave and the Bold, titled "The Brimstone Connection," Batman and Supergirl team up for a quick and exciting adventure that mixes detective work with secret agent-style action. When Supergirl's foster father, scientist Fred Danvers, is kidnapped by mercenaries seeking a revolutionary rocket-fuel formula, she discovers Batman is already investigating the same criminal conspiracy after receiving information from a dying government agent. Realizing their separate investigations are connected, the two heroes join forces to locate the kidnappers before the stolen technology can be exploited.
As Batman sneaks into the villains' secret hideout, Supergirl chases a strange airplane that's carrying some of the bad guys. Batman soon finds himself trapped alongside Danvers in a deadly bomb setup engineered by the ruthless Colonel Sulphur, forcing him to rely on his resourcefulness to survive. After Batman escapes and disables the explosive, Supergirl returns in time to stop the gang's submarine getaway, hauling their vessel back to the surface and ensuring the criminals are brought to justice. Featuring crisp storytelling by Cary Burkett and dynamic artwork by Jim Aparo, the issue is a classic Bronze Age team-up that highlights Batman's detective skills alongside Supergirl's superhuman power.
