Condition: The book is in good condition. There is a tear/some separation on the lower half of the front end papers where they meet the spine/binding but no loose pages (see photo below).  The covers are in very good condition and the inside pages are in excellent condition.

Synopsis: Nancy Drew becomes involved in a baffling mystery when her friend, Mrs. Josette Blair, is plagued by a recurring nightmare about a terrifying figure and a flight of 99 steps. When a mysterious message from France warns her to tell no one about the steps, Nancy, Bess, and George travel to Paris to investigate. There, they join Nancy’s father, Carson Drew, who is working on a case involving wealthy financier Monsieur Leblanc, a man being frightened into selling large amounts of securities. Nancy soon suspects that the two mysteries are connected.

As the girls follow a trail of cryptic clues, sinister warnings, and mysterious strangers, their search takes them from Paris to the romantic chateau country of the Loire Valley. The discovery of an old stone staircase, a hidden laboratory, and a mysterious man in Arab garb leads Nancy closer to the truth behind the 99 steps. With danger closing in, Nancy must unravel the secrets of the past, uncover the connection to the frightened financier, and bring a clever criminal scheme to light.
