Product Description
The Story Of The Mosquito And Is Control, 15 page booklet / brochure printed in 1964 and written by Entomology research specialists Lyle E. Hagmann and Daniel M. Jobbins.
The booklet was produced by the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station, College of Agriculture, Rutgers - The State University, New Brunswick in cooperation with The New Jersey State Mosquito Control Commission.
The booklet contains many photos and discusses all aspects of mosquitoes and their control: background on their history as a pest to man, mosquito biology, different types of mosquitoes, mosquito habitat, mosquito control procedures (water control, chemical control, biological control, emergency control and individual protection). The back cover has a list of New Jersey county mosquito extermination commissions.
On page 15 the booklet gives several chemical formulations for mosquito control, all of which, alarmingly, involved the use of the then widely used DDT. The use of DDT for insect control was banned in the US in 1972 due to environmental and health concerns.
The vintage brochure is in excellent condition. (see photos).
