Antique postcard from 1907 showing a band playing by the canal in Venetian Gardens in the Dreamland amusement park in Coney Island, Brooklyn, New York.
Venetian Gardens was an attraction in the Dreamland amusement park that was built to resemble the architecture and atmosphere of Venice, complete with canals and gondolas. Dreamland opened in 1904 and was one of the big 3 Coney Island amusement parks along with Steeplechase Park and (the original) Luna Park. Dreamland burned down in 1911 after a worker accidentally knocked over a hot ash can which ignited a massive fire. The park stood on the location of the present day New York Aquarium.
The card is used and stamped, postmarked 1907. It is in very good condition with minor wear on the corner tip edges (see photos).
