Vintage promotional safety matches matchbox from the 1980's advertising the now closed Victoria Station railroad themed full service restaurant chain which operated over 100 restaurants at its peak.
Victoria Station opened its first restaurant in San Francisco in 1969 and filed for bankruptcy in the 1980's. The restaurant decor was based on Victoria Station in London and included railroad artifacts. Johnny Cash released a promotional album of train related songs for the chain in 1975 called 'Destination Victoria Station'.
The matchbook has the Victoria Station logo and 'Purvey of Prime Rib & Potable Spirits' on the both sides, and the side panel says 'San Francisco and other cities'. The matches were made in Japan by Pageant SFCA.
The matchbook is in excellent condition and all of the matches are intact and the "strike pad" is unstruck (see photos).
