Product Description

Antique postcard circa 1909 showing the Whitman School building, built in 1895, at 25 Manomet Street facing Leavitt Street, and its first principal Edgar Farwell.  The school closed in 2010.

The card was published circa 1909 by Holmes Postcard, Brockton and Onset Bay, Massachusetts.

The card has a 1 cent Lexington Concord postage stamp on the back (the stamp was issued in 1925).  The stamp was the first issued to honor the participants in the Revolutionary War.  It shows George Washington taking command of the Continental Army in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

The postcard is used, stamped, and postmarked 1925 September 1925.  The card has damage on the top left corner tip (missing 1/4" piece), and some yelllowing of the back side due to age. See photos.
